The 2019 Undergraduate Project Competition (UPC) was capped off by the Final Project Presentation and Judging of the 10 finalists on May 31, 2019. UPERDFI President Rico Trinidad, Adviser Chato Calderon and ED Tito Aliga joined the panel of judges.

Ivan Jan Urbino of ICE claimed first place in the Research Category with his project entitled, “BIOCONCRETE: Self-Healing of Cracks in Concrete using Bacteria with Different Encapsulation Techniques”, with the help of Adviser Asst. Prof. Christian Orozco. In the Design Category, Chemical Engineering seniors Maria Crispina Buensuceso, Wilbert Jacob Julio and Jaron Nicolas Uy bested four others with “EcoFill: Recycled Plastic Sachets as Filler in Anti-Corrosion Coatings”, under the tutelage of Dr. Bryan Pajarito.

Member Francis Chua sponsored the Dr. Francis Chua Innovation Awards, with the cash prizes to be given during the UPCOE Graduation Rites.
