After over two years of fund-raising, vetting of technical specifications and procurement, the 1,152-core High Performance Computing System was delivered to UPCOE on September 28, 2022. Sourcing the equipment from PSSC Labs in California, our supplier, State Alliance Enterprises, Inc. (SAEI) delivered the order 2.5 months ahead of schedule.

The HPC System, which is seamlessly bundled with the 512-core HPC equipment that the UPCOE procured earlier and received in April 2022, is housed at Room 117 of the Juinio Hall, National Engineering Center. It is undergoing full system testing and finetuning by the UPCOE Team led by EEEI professor Dr. Roel Ocampo, the Associate Dean for Research. (Roel was for a long time the director of the UP Computer Center.) This team will be responsible for the operation and management of the HPC System.

As envisioned, the aggregated 1,664-core HPC System will serve the needs of UPCOE research projects, as well as being open to other users in the public and private sector.
ED Tito Aliga hosted SAEI executives Mina Lim and Jose Lim on October 10, handing over to them the full one-time payment for the purchase.
