In a zoom event on September 1, the Philippine Manufacturing Company of Murata, Inc. signed in virtual format the governing MOU between the company and UP Diliman, and the MOA between the company and the College of Engineering covering Student Internships.

Murata President Mr. Masayoshi Koda, UPD Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo and UPCOE Dean Ferdie Manegdeg were the signatories.

Other persons in attendance included Murata executives, GM Masaru Kurihara and staff, and UPCOE Committee on Institutional Linkages head Prof Rosanne Ramos and staff.

The short meaningful program included remarks from UPERDFI President Ferdz de la Cruz, UP Alumni Engineers President Elmir de la Cruz,  and UP Engineering alumnus Joaquin Quintos IV, president of First Holdings Industrial Estates, where Murata’s Plant is located. Mr. Quintos and UPERDFI member Ed Chua were the vital links that enabled the partnership to be facilitated. Mr. Kurihara, Elmir de la Cruz, Ed Chua and ED Tito Aliga also shared relevant insights.

The MOA covers internships for Engineering students starting midyear 2021. UPCOE is mounting a drive to set up collaborative partnerships with companies and agencies, as the student internship is required for enrollees in the 4-year course. The first batch, estimated to be 700-800, will be eligible this mid-year 2021.
