With headquarters in Australia, Orica Philippines, Inc., a global mining solutions provider that manufactures explosives in its Bataan Plant (for export markets and Philippine customers) established a Scholarship Program at the UPD College of Engineering. The Memorandum of Agreement between UP and Orica Philippines was signed by Orica Philippines Area Business Manager Gordon Matthew Wallace and UPDCOE Dean Tonette Tanchuling. ORICA Sr. Territory Manager Joel Laqui stood as Witness. The MOA covers 4 slots covering the final-2-years benefits for scholars for AY 2023-24 and 2024-25.

The signing ceremony was held on November 8 at the Melchor Hall Faculty Lounge, attended by ORICA managers (which included UPDCOE Mining alumni), UPDCOE ADs Kate Tungpalan and Eric Tingatinga, and DMMME Faculty. UPERDFI Executive Director Tito Aliga handed over a copy of the Golden Anniversary Book as a token of appreciation for the new partnership with Orica.
