A Message from the UPERDFI Chairman, Jose Jerome “Jeng” Pascual III delivered during the Annual Membership Meeting and Donor Appreciation

Your Character is the Sum of Your Values

Your character shows how you respond—to pressure, to failure, to opportunity. And your values are the foundation upon which your character is built. They are the principles that guide your behavior and your choices.

And just like in math: Positive values add to your character. Negative values subtract.

✅

Five Positive Values (Add to Character):

Integrity – Doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

Compassion – Genuinely caring for others and acting with empathy.

Accountability – Taking responsibility for your actions and their consequences.

Respect – Honoring the dignity, opinions, and boundaries of others.

Perseverance – Staying committed through challenges and setbacks.

❌

Three Negative Values (Subtract from Character):

Dishonesty – Undermines trust and breaks relationships.

Entitlement – Fosters selfishness and a disregard for others.

Complacency – Leads to mediocrity and missed opportunities for growth.

These values—whether positive or negative—shape the “math” of your character, influencing how others experience and remember you.

In the end, your character is the sum of what you choose to stand for.

Your Happiness is the Quotient of your Desires

Happiness is equal to Your Achievements divided by Your Aspirations. So Happiness comes when we start fulfilling the aspirations that truly matter.

Aspiration gives your life direction. Achievement gives it momentum.

Happiness grows when you close the gap between who you aspire to be—and who you dare to become.

Your Life is the Product of your Choices

Just like in multiplication, every factor counts.
Every yes, every no—even every maybe—compounds.
One choice at a time, you shape your story.

But you don’t have to get it all right the first time.
You will make mistakes. You’ll stumble. You’ll face both personal and professional crises. But if your choices are rooted in purpose—even your failures will move you forward.

That’s what real living is: Choosing with purpose. Growing through setbacks. And becoming someone your future self—and your family—can be proud of.

Your Relevance is the Difference you make in the Lives of Others.

This last math lesson isn’t just about numbers—it’s about meaning. It’s the purpose behind your values, your happiness, and your choices.

When living your values brings meaning to your relationships…
When your aspirations and achievements inspire those around you…
When your choices benefit not just yourself, but others…
That’s relevance.

Because real fulfillment doesn’t come from what you get. It comes from what you give.

So be relevant. Be passionate. Be kind. Be the reason someone else believes in the good in this world.
